Featured Blog: Research on Business & Web 2.0
November 16, 2007 on 10:00 am | | In Blog, Research, Web2.0 | No CommentsA Friend of mine – Alex Stocker – has asked me to promote his weblog focusing on Web 2.0 in business context. He talks about topics he’s coming across in his ongoing work on his PhD and publishing slides, results, ideas and thoughts. He’d be happy to get some contacs and directions, so give it a try
However note that his blog is german only ;(
Addicted to Blogging: 71%
August 13, 2007 on 8:14 pm | | In Fun, General, Web2.0 | 3 CommentsHaving seen the addiction percentage on Ton’s blog I really had to do the same test:
So after those weird questions I’m rather sure that I’m up to 71% addicted to blogging. That’s not as wild as Ton’s addiction (> 90%) but it’s a serious infection

August 13, 2007 on 1:05 pm | | In General, Imaging, Multimedia, Web2.0 | 5 Comments
The 4th Carinthian Photowalk has been announced. It will take place in Klagenfurt, starting on 18th of August 2007 at 9pm here. Main topic is night photography (well 9pm is a good time for that
). If you want to come, don’t forget your camera tripod.
If you want to know what people are doing on a photowalk, then check the results of for instance the 2nd photowalk or the 3rd photowalk.

Nokia MOSH: Social Networking & Multimedia
August 11, 2007 on 10:16 am | | In Communication, General, Mobile, Multimedia, Social Software, Web2.0 | 1 Comment
Recently I got an invitation to Nokia MOSH, a new social networking, social bookmarking and sharing and multimedia platform of Nokia. Within MOSH one can share videos, images and audio files, which then can be collectred by other members and viewed online as well as on Nokia mobile devices. Furthermore one can share and collect application (e.g. for your mobile phone), games (also for mobile devices) and documents (mostly hyperlinks as far as I found out).
The actual platform looks good, but does not feel very ‘handy’ yet – maybe due to its closed beta status
I didn’t get the mobile app to work with my N70 yet (server was down/unreachable as I trued) but I think it may be a fine communications and entertainment platform for Nokia mobile phones. I also really appreciate the applications and games sharing thing, so one can finally get some recommendations of other users instead of surfing different sellers sites in search for fine S60 apps.
If you want to try it out yourself just drop me a line and I’ll invite you to MOSH as the feature is there. I don’t know if the invites will be instantly, but I can try at least
Update: Techcrunch also published a post on Mosh. They also describe how to get in:
… just type “ALLACCESS” into the box on the landing page …

I definitely plan to go there. If you want to meet … same as always, drop me a line

YouTube Mobile

Around last weekend the YouTube mobile interface was opened. As I’ve paid for a 100 MB / month never really using more than 20 for mails and some chatting I really had to test it
The interface is clean and simple. It works like a charm with the Opera mobile browser (not the Opera Mini, I haven’t tried with this also with Opera Mini – tested by Daniel Goldman, thx to Daniel) . The videos are provided with RTSP in 3GP format. So one can also watch the videos using Realplayer (see screenshot). Some further information on the used streaming format: The video I tested was encoded with 40 kbps with H263. Taking a look at the RTSP communication reveals that there is a Darwin Streaming Server working:
Received PLAY response: RTSP/1.0 200 OK
Server: DSS/5.5.3 (Build/489.12; Platform/Linux; Release/Darwin; )
The only thing about mobile YouTube: You’ll need an UMTS connection or better
I never really liked the whole web interface thing …
June 6, 2007 on 4:50 pm | | In General, Software, Tools, Web2.0 | 1 CommentAlthough I’m rather happy with blogs in general, I really appreciate real applications. Currently I’m testing ScribeFire, an Firefox extension for creating blog entries. It seems to integrate with my blog(s) seamlessly and promises to be a good friend
Seems also to support spell checking …
Feed URL changed …
June 4, 2007 on 8:49 am | | In General, Web2.0 | No CommentsIn the spirit of making subscription and administration to my feed simpler I’ve changed to Feedburner. Subscription now also includes my Flickr photos and my bookmark stream from del.icio.us.
Feel free to choose the new feed URL: Subscribe to SemanticMetadata.net
