Multimedia Meta Data Community – The community aims at bringing together experts from research and industry in the area of multimedia meta data interoperability for collaborative working environments. By establishing a community of professionals it is intended to bridge the gap between an academic research and an industrial scale development of innovative products for natural collaboration. To accomplish this goal the portal provides information about MPEG-7 & MPEG-21 related events, participating research groups, as well as industry partners to share expertise on multimedia meta data interoperability.

Projects

MEDPHYT – is a new database for plants of medicinal interest. Developed by the Beilstein Institute in collaboration with the Institute for Information Technology at the University of Klagenfurt (Austria). Harald Kosch and Margit Lang, who is an active contributor to Caliph & Emir, are working on this database. Emir is integrated for retrieval.

MPEG-7 Audio Encoder – The Java MPEG-7 Audio Encoder extracts some descriptors and description schemes of the MPEG-7 standard to describe an audio content (in this case: an audio file). Developed and maintained by Holger Crysandt from the RWTH Aachen

Mistral – Measurable Intelligent and Reliable Semantic Extraction and Retrieval of Multimedia Data, a funded research project done at the Graz University of Technology, Austria that aims to enrich video content with semantic annotations automatically.

MECCA – Multimedia capturing of collaborative scientific discourses about movies, a collaborative multimedia knowledge management system in context of movie science developed at the RWTH Aachen by Ralf Klamma and Marc Spaniol. I recommend to view the demo!

VizIR – Visual information retrieval project VizIR supported by the Austrian Scientific Research Fund (FWF). The VizIR source code is free under GNU Public License and parts of it are used (modified) in Caliph & Emir thanks to Horst Eidenberger.
