While many people keep complaining about the Vuvuzela, I’m definitely a big fan of those. I think it’s so much better than the air horn (which I usually dislike). For everyone who did not make it to buy one I’ve sampled 5 mp3s of mine. Have fun!

1st ITEC Soccer World Cup

While the bold and sporty soccer players run for the ball, we do electronic sports ITEC proudly presents the 1st ITEC Soccer World Cup 2010. 16 teams will battle for the Cup, just before the actual FIFA World Cup 2010. To enter the Cup just sign up your team (2-3 players) on the Google spreadsheet. Rules and constraints are given here.

SOMA World Games event – you’re invited!

In the course of the SOMA project we invite *you* on April 22nd, 2010 to the „SOMA World Games“ event. On four different stages four different games will be played:

Rockband,
Singstar,
Wii Sports Ressort &
Tony Hawk Ride.

Be there and join our games!

Why? We want to investigate how multimedia content is created in such a social event, and how this content can be used for our self-organizational approach of detecting and presenting “situations of interest” (as, e.g., “crowd formation”).

This means that you will become photographed and filmed. But do not worry, the gathered content is just used for our research purposes and will not be published elsewhere.

When? Thursday, April 22nd, 2010, from 17.00 to 23.00

Where? Lakeside Labs GmbH, Lakeside B04b, 1st floor, 9020 Klagenfurt

While preparing my trip to the CHI 2010 in Atlanta I realized that I should get some classic game to play in my free time on my eee pc. I came to a site called GOG.com featuring “good old games”. And see there was a spring sale including Gothic 2. While this is great in general the registration process contained an even better feature: a whole new selection of genders to choose from. Of course I chose to be the dude

Lately I ordered two games in UK, like everyone does as they are much cheaper for us Austrian than buying them around here in a store . The store of my choice has already promptly delivered a first package, so I was quite sure that this won’t pose a problem this time. BUT: After placing my order I got a “security mail”:

[...] Due to increased security for online orders, we ask for proof of address to be sent to us before we can dispatch your order.

This is a standard request on international orders, to protect us and our customers from fraud.

Please forward a copy of your bank statement or a utility bill (gas, water, electricity etc.) by email to info@xx-xx-xx-xx.co.uk or alternatively by fax to +44 xxxxxxxx39. [...]

My answer was short and sharp: I don’t have any bills as this is my work address and I wouldn’t send one if I had one. First of all they already got the money (via paypal) and secondly this was already the second order. I also sent them a link to my homepage

Just checking back on the dealextreme website once in a while to see if there were any new and interesting gadgets I found two really funny (at least to me ) things. First of all I found a very interesting game on a 44 games in 1 cartridge named “Hally Poter Goblet of Fire“. I wonder if that game resembles a rather well known kids story Just click on the image on the right hand side and note the first game in the list . The product the image belongs to is here.

Secondly I found an interested on an image belonging to this product: “The export, commercial use or leasing of this product are prohibited“. *LOL* Find the image here.

‘Futurama’ given a new future
